Job Summary
The Senior Buyer leads the purchasing and sourcing functions for the organization. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the incumbent executes sourcing strategies that effectively balance cost reductions, quality and customer service. The incumbent communicates easily with others and models sound judgment and financial stewardship.Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Independently, issues, or oversees the issuance of, purchase orders in line with company policies. Monitors open purchase orders and coordinates with internal customers and vendors, as needed. Work is completed efficiently, timely, and accurately.
- Independently, develops and drives sourcing strategies and price negotiations. Optimizes current contracts to ensure maximum benefit to the company.
- Independently and proactively, identifies process improvements and leads implementation efforts.
- Independently, interacts with internal and external parties, ensuring they receive an initial response within one business day and questions are resolved in an appropriate amount of time (as defined by complexity of the issue). Communication utilizes a professional tone, is clear and concise.
- Independently, prepares, or oversees the preparation of, files, and analyzes various reports and transactions, which may or may not be shared outside the organization. Work is completed by the stated deadline and supporting documentation is succinct and easy to comprehend. Applies critical thinking commensurate with task complexity.
- Maintains an understanding of financial policies and applies them independently.
Flexible Roles and Responsibilities
- Support other accounting team functions during periods of high volume, vacancy and/or absence.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or related field required.
- Five years of experience in procurement.
- Demonstrated ability with Excel pivot tables, data extraction, nested IF, VLOOKUP, and SUMIF functions.
- This role will be required to adhere to the MCNC Substance Abuse policy, which may include drug/alcohol screening at hire and periodically or randomly during employment.
Preferred Qualifications/Specialties
- Experience with NetSuite.
