Manager, Cybersecurity Services

Enterprise IT: Cybersecurity Services - DURHAM, NC - Full Time

Job Summary

This position leads MCNC’s Cybersecurity Services service management team to ensure the delivery of high-quality, high-value cyber protections to MCNC’s community, and to drive future growth and success for the business. Specifically, this position provides critical leadership to define, develop, implement, and ensure effective operations of MCNC’s portfolio of Cybersecurity services.  The ideal candidate is highly analytical and focused, with a keen ability to understand how to optimize MCNC’s resources to drive business development and to meet customer needs.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Manage effective and efficient operation of services in the cybersecurity service portfolio. In this role you will:
    1. Establish key metrics used to manage and track the performance of MCNC cybersecurity services.
    2. Ensure that operational issues are identified and addressed in a timely manner.
    3. Identify and implement enhancements to improve existing cybersecurity services.
    4.  Work collaboratively with MCNC’s Operations teams (Security, Network and Systems Operations teams) to ensure effective operation of technical services provided to MCNC customers.
    5. Provide oversight to and maintain responsibility for projects involving MCNC’s cybersecurity services.
  2. Manage business operations and new business development. In this role you will:
    1.  Develop and manage budgets and maintain responsibility for P&L for MCNC’s cybersecurity services.
    2. Develop, manage and track new business growth opportunities and ensure they are achieved.
    3. Ensure service materials remain current, accurate, and relevant. These materials include marketing collateral, website content, training materials, customer onboarding materials, etc.
    4. Help develop and track progress of the strategic plan for MCNC Cybersecurity Services as a part of MCNC’s overall strategic vision.
    5. Collaborate with MCNC’s sales, marketing, business development, and customer advocacy teams to define and pursue opportunities in support of defined revenue growth objectives.
    6. Collaborate with MCNC’s marketing team to plan and oversee new marketing initiatives.
    7.  Attend conferences, local and national events as needed to represent MCNC’s Cybersecurity Services line of business.
  3. Manage relationships with MCNC’s customers. In this role you will:
    1. Serve as the primary point of engagement for customer interactions with MCNC’s Cybersecurity Services team.
    2. Lead and organize Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with identified key customers to ensure alignment on strategic goals, review service performance, address challenges, and identify growth opportunities.
    3. Engage with MCNC’s customers to identify new service opportunities and drive future business wins.
  4. Manage relationships with key partners and vendors. In this role you will:
    1. Serve as the primary point of engagement for partners and vendors interacting with MCNC’s Cybersecurity Services team.
    2. Manage relationships with partners and vendors to ensure strategic alignment.
    3. Act as a point of escalation for MCNC’s operations teams and customers when interacting with vendors.
    4. Manage pricing, purchasing, and contract renewal activities with vendors.
  5. Develop and implement new cybersecurity services.  In this role, you will collaborate with other MCNC teams to:
    1. Evaluate the cyber threat landscape and current market trends.
    2. Engage with MCNC’s customers to identify new cybersecurity services that will benefit customers and drive future MCNC business. 
    3. Evaluate potential service opportunities and build business cases for opportunity pursuit. 
    4. Develop service delivery cost models to inform pricing requirements.
    5. Once new services are approved, you will be responsible for implementing the new services to benefit MCNC customers.  This includes coordinating technical development activity, managing communications, and coordinating the implementation of necessary support and business processes.
  6. Help coordinate and manage the Cybersecurity Services team’s participation in responding to cybersecurity incidents. In this role you will:
    1. Help manage cybersecurity incidents that require MCNC to undertake response activities. You will manage communications with customers and other community stakeholders and coordinate response activities with MCNC teams involved in responding to the incident.
  7. Personnel Management
    1. In this role, you will manage and oversee the work of the Service Management Analyst role supporting the Cybersecurity Services team.
  8. Provide other organizational assistance. In this role you may be asked to perform the following activities:
    1. Provide expert support to MCNC’s Senior Leadership team for addressing cybersecurity-related issues and incidents.
    2. Perform additional duties as assigned by the VP, Enterprise IT and Cybersecurity Initiatives.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  1. BS or BA in appropriate technical (Information Security, Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) or Business Management field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  2. Strong organizational and project management skills and experience.
  3. Demonstrated success in new product development and new service introduction.
  4. Demonstrated success in collaborating across department boundaries to establish positive working relationships and drive successful outcomes without direct control of, or supervision of assets.
  5. Experience representing an organization in a customer-facing role.
  6. Experience successfully managing budgets and finances in service delivery.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers, management team, MCNC customers, and vendors. Must be able to deliver written material and presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  8. Problem-solving: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to address complex business and technical challenges.
  9. Ability to independently make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure.
  10. Ability to work in a responsible and proactive fashion collaboratively or with minimal direct supervision.
  11. Must have a valid driver's license and will be required to drive a company vehicle on company business. Pre-employment and annual MVR checks will be required during your employment with the company for this position in order to be approved to drive a company-owned vehicle.
  12. Background and sex offender checks will be performed for pre-employment and annually during your employment with the company.
  13. This role will be required to adhere to the MCNC Substance Abuse policy, which may include drug/alcohol screening at hire and periodically or randomly during employment.

Preferred Qualifications/Specialties

  1. At least 5 years of experience in a project / program / service management or service delivery role related to technology services.  Direct experience managing cybersecurity services is a plus.
  2. Experience coordinating cybersecurity incident response activities is a plus.
  3. Team building and development experience. Capable of inspiring and motivating teams, setting a clear vision, fostering collaboration and empowering team members; Strong capacity to recruit, develop, and retain top talent.
  4. Client Relationship Management: Expertise in building and maintaining strong client partnerships at the executive level
  5. Relevant industry certifications (such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, GIAC, PMP, etc.) are a plus.
